Even 60 Minutes gets it wrong.

by

Our next training session is about room comfort.  Upcoming posts will more directly address that topic.

Meanwhile, I notice that 60 Minutes has a piece on HVAC and air quality.  The piece aired Sunday, October 29th and was called ‘The Air We Breathe’.

Oh my gosh, our industry was featured on 60 Minutes!  Buckle up!

And yes, if you want to make fun of me for being the old guy who watches 60 Minutes, I receive that.  I do believe it’s fair journalism.

I was sure they would mention something about displacement ventilation.

Alas, disappointed again.

The guy from Harvard got a lot right.  60 Minutes probably cut down his take from 2 hours to 10 minutes.  What the editors left IN has something to be desired.

More conventional wisdom about air changes and filters.

I do love that they were talking about aerosols, duration of exposure, and concentration of contaminants in space, and the benefit of monitoring.  That’s all great stuff.

They left the part out how mixing ventilation systems more effectively spread contaminants throughout a space.

Don’t take my word for it.  Price Industries conducted their own aerosol study and published it. Read their blog post here. Get the white paper here.

Look.  There’s a handful of you applying DV to spaces, and you know it’s the gold standard.  There’s room for a few more.  We’ll help get you there.

And don’t wait around for a 30-foot ceiling to bite you in the ass to consider it either.  It works EVERYWHERE.

Oh yeah, about our class, DV systems are more comfortable.  We’ll explain why.

See you at the next post.
