Are lab controls complicated?
Not really.
For a DFDM project, the requirement is to use a JCI programmed controller. Fine, the State will do what the State will do.
For your private lab job, you can do whatever you want.
Just so you know, Antec’s controls are very easy to work with, native BACnet, with easy points discovery.
There are two types of controllers in this image. One type for the fume hood (there are 3) and one for the overall lab to control the balance.
Assuming the lab is wired up properly (big assumption perhaps) and the supply and exhaust systems are working, Air Flow can get this entire lab started up in a couple hours.
What takes extra time is making sure the system has pressure, or being sure the boilers are on to control reheat, or moving a diffuser that’s too close to a hood.
But the controls? Easy Peasy.
Because they are so easy, you don’t truly need to know how they work; but we’re going to show you anyway.
