I feel that all of us would like to class-up our systems with higher end equipment, but not every client is looking to stay in their building for 30 years.
Here’s how a Venn diagram can articulate the need for a low-cost solution.
Once the decision is made for a rooftop unit system, you shouldn’t stop. There’s another Venn diagram that needs to be viewed. This one is a little busier.
The sweet spot is of course the goal. A lot of times, once the design gets past the basic RTU, it tips into (what I’m calling) deluxe RTUs. And don’t get me wrong, a lot of capacity in a small box is a cool thing. But when your RTU costs $30/cfm, maybe we left the right spot on the first Venn diagram. Does your client really need modulating hot gas reheat? Or a plenum fan for a 30’ run of duct?
Josh is going to steer you toward the sweet spot, and away from financial or comfort disappointments.
