Maybe Your Kid Shouldn’t Go To College

by

I wish this program were available in my school district.

Recently, Air Flow was invited to participate in Wauwatosa East’s Pre-Appreticeship program, headed up by Craig Griffie, Tech Ed Teacher and Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program Coordinator.  Air Flow had an easy part, donating some equipment and lending some of our marketing efforts.

Total Mechanical and JM Brennan are volunteering a great deal of their time and effort to grow and develop this program. Same for the Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association (“PMC”) and Sheetmetal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (“SMACCA”).

How do we get kids into the trades?

Exactly how Tosa East is doing it.  Showing the students what it is, then letting them learn by doing.

The video we put together highlights a few kids who say it like it is.

One remarks, “Before this program, I didn’t really have much direction for my future; but now, I can safely say I know what I want to do, and I’m excited to do that.”

Music to any parent’s ears.

What can you do?  Share this video with your school administrators and get the conversation going.

The country always needs a handful of poets, writers, and artists.  But the country also needs a lot of people to get up, go to work, keep our buildings comfortable, and make an excellent living.  Maybe the poetry can be a hobby.

See you in Tech Ed Class.
