It’s 1967. The United States is 6 years into the Apollo Program to reach the moon. The apollo 1 space launch ended in tragedy, as did the Russian Soyuz 1.
We’d have to wait more years to put a man on the moon.
Meanwhile, not all the news is bad. Dunham Bush has introduced its screw chiller, which to me looks very much like a compact space capsule.
At that time, manufacturing processes were going through a renaissance and making use of new alloys that allowed for higher pressure vessels.
In the research I performed to entertain and educate you, my friend, I came across a classic 1960s era video of Dunham Bush chiller manufacturing that’s too good to pass up. My goodness, don’t watch the whole thing, but if you’re feeling for a little nostalgia for a different era, you’re going to get your needs met.
The dual screw chiller design shows up at 5:53 and it is worth a look.
I’m not sure why Dunham Bush left the US market but we’re bringing them back.
See you online.
