For the last 4 years, I listen to podcasts, and almost every day.
Many will think that’s weird. At 5-10 hours a week, it’s more time than what I spent in 4 years of college lectures and labs.
I listen to health podcasts, leadership podcasts, religious podcasts, and Bill Burr when I run out of material. But I never seem to run out.
So what, Tom?
I’ve noticed that listening to podcasts trains the unconscious mind to look for the right habits. There isn’t enough will power to go around.
Pressing “PLAY” doesn’t require much will power.
If there is a habit that needs changing, find a podcast that will help with the heavy lifting.
It’s worked for me in ways of spirituality, diet and exercise, leadership.
It helped when it was time to quit smoking.
It’s been easier to get up in the morning to work out.
It’s planted seeds and created ideas I wouldn’t have cooked up on my own.
It’s made me treat folks better, including myself.
A few of my favorites:
- Marketing: Akimbo by Seth Godin (so much more than marketing)
- Conversations: Big Questions with Cal Fussman (hard to explain, but he interviews like no other)
- Health: The Model Health Show by Shawn Stevenson
- Leadership: Entre Leadership by Ramsey Solutions
- Coaching: Over It And On With It by Christine Hassler
- Personal Development: The Tony Robbins Podcast by Tony Robbins
- Business Growth: Masters of Scale with Reid Hoffman
- Spirituality: Joel Osteen Podcast (that one may surprise you, but I love it.)
Until next time.
