Scene:
Suburban City Hall. Evening. March. The hint of real spring is in the air, but the mood is far from joyous.
100-some suburban dwellers are gathered in the aging city hall building.
You are in an uncomfortable chair, in your uncomfortable jacket that you don’t have to wear very often. Your hands are clammy. It’s warm.
It’s your stamp on the bottom of that plan. XYZ. And you just became a partner. Dammit!
Next to you is the principal from the architect that hired you. You’re supposed to act like a team, but tonight… you’re on your own.
Someone official-looking stands up, calls the meeting to order, and announces, “OK, let’s get right to it, we have a sound problem at ABC building, it violates the noise ordinance, and it needs to be fixed. What’s the plan?
An angry neighbor begins to rant about the idiots who put this project together with no consideration toward the neighbors.
The architect gestures toward you with an open hand for you to begin speaking.
End Scene
Hey, this isn’t far from reality. The board, the mayor, the school, aren’t going to accept that you didn’t know any better. They are just going to make you to fix it. After all, noise ordinance is law.
If you have to fix it after the fact, Air Flow and Price can help you. You can also address it in advance for about 1/3 of the cost.
Your call.
