If you attended Air Flow’s Deep Dive into Air Distribution Class, hopefully you gathered these takeaways (hey, no one is judging…)
- Most engineers design diffusers for cooling mode only.
- Most engineers do not take into consideration the buoyancy of air in heating mode.
- Most spaces are improperly designed for comfort in heating mode.
- There are some remedies for this, including perimeter heat, fan powered terminals, higher air flow, and DESTRATIFICATION FANS.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of time rejiggering your diffuser selections from plaques to directional to slots and deciding who adjusts pattern controllers, here’s the Airius Suspended Series to make spaces more comfortable, year round.
When to consider this suspended series Airius fans:
- Standard VAV boxes
- Ceiling taller than 10’
- No perimeter heat
- Exterior zone
- Full grid ceiling
- Not recommended when sound requirements are lower than NC30.
Products:
- 10-SP will cover 500 sq feet, ceilings up to 12’ (27 dBA at 5’;~NC25)
- 15-SP will cover 800 sq feet, ceilings up to 15’ (33dBA at 5’;~NC30)
- 25-SP will cover 1200 sq feet, ceilings up to 25’ (35 dBA at 15’;~NC30)
The space temperature (and humidity) will be uniform from ceiling to floor, perfect mixing. If you put the heating BTUs in the space, they will be delivered to the occupied zone instead of hanging around the ceiling.
Suspended series fans are light (15 lb. ea.) so the grid can support them. (Maybe just a safety cable would be a good idea 😊)
Much as we love helping make equipment recommendations, you can tackle this one on your own.
Consider yourself an air distribution Pro!
